[Well this is a topic she'd happy to talk about. It's simple.]

Dad's ship, the Millenium Falcon. She's an old YT-1300 freighter... or at least started out as one. I don't know how many modifications it takes before we should probably stop calling it the stock model. She's got her quirks, but when everything's working she's fast.

...The CEC were building those in my time.

[It'd have to be barely recognisable from the original model to still be running in her time. Most people didn't build things like a nine year old Anakin with C3-PO.]

She's got to be the oldest ship in the galaxy then.

There's a lot of old ships on the Outer Rim but... yeah, the Falcon's pretty old. There's no ship quite like her.

It was a good way to learn. The only way to make her work is to really understand all the systems.

[The Outer Rim is a different story, but she shouldn't be anywhere near there in the first place.]

Your parents took you out there too? It's not exactly a great place to be.

Not to Mos Eisley or anything, but a lot of Outer Rim planets were important to the Rebellion. And if the government and the Jedi avoid the Outer Rim because it's dangerous, things will never get any better there. The New Republic has to care about those planets and they have to show it.

[Why Mos Eisley as an example? He hasn't specified where the bread originated from and none of them should have any reason to visit Tatooine.

Carefully:]

The Republic has never had any jurisdiction over Hutt space and I doubt that'd change with the New Republic.

[He really doesn't know, does he? Apparently no one's told him many details]

The Hutts lost control of Tatooine twenty years ago when Mom killed Jabba. They squabbled a bit but no one managed to hold onto it and then all the tourist stuff started to set up because of Uncle Luke.

Why were-- [He cuts himself off before he could finish. He was going to respect the limits that Luke placed for his sister.] Never mind, don't tell me anything more. Luke says he doesn't want me to know anything about your mother.

That is another one of those things someone probably should have told me.

[No one tells her anything around here, it's getting annoying!]

If we can't talk about my mom, can you tell me about yours?

[He shrugs. No one talks to him either.] If he wanted to keep it a secret he should let you all know.

[He looks away and is quiet for a moment.]

I don't know if there's much to tell. I was a child when I left.

You remembered about the bread though... I'm curious about the little things. It's always been like our family tree started out of nowhere.

[Unsurprising considering how he turned out and even then his general reluctance to talk about his past.]

How much do you know already?

About her? Barely anything. That she was a slave on Tatooine and was freed by the Lars family.

[That's just facts, not feelings]

[Anakin goes rigid. He never spoke in detail about his past and here she was casually mentioning the one thing he wished had never happened.

Owen should never have told Luke. It wasn't his story to tell.]

He shouldn't have said that.

She kept a journal.

[She hasn't seen it, but she heard some details at least]

It was mostly about you.

[He left his mother behind in chains and he spent so many years enjoying the freedom her sacrifice had bought him. He should have gone back earlier.]

I've spent more time with the Jedi than I ever did with her. I wish I had more time with her.
